A word about PRIDE from the Mayor's Desk:
PRIDE or Personal Responsibility In a Desirable Environment, serves 38 counties in southern and eastern Kentucky. The PRIDE initiative was launched in 1997 by Congressman Hal Rogers and General James Bickford, who was then the Secretary of the Kentucky Natural Resources and Environmental Cabinet, and is funded by a grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
PRIDE has united thousands of volunteers with the resources of federal, state, and local governments to pursue three goals: (1) to clean our waterways, (2) to end illegal trash dumps, and (3) to promote environmental awareness and education.
Pride is already active in the City of Manchester and our council will continue to support PRIDE. The council being environmental minded will take PRIDE to even higher limits as our goal is to make Manchester as great and clean place to live.
We are involved year round with many clean up projects and take part in the big spring push for two weeks in April each year. Manchester is a beutiful little town and the PRIDE programs help to keep it clean and beutiful. We take PRIDE in our community!
